Route Summary
1) We start this great route on the outskirts of Halifax in the commercial area of Bayer's Lake. You can find many interesting shops here including a harley dealership and a sports bike dealership.
First thing we do is get out of this concrete jungle. Go under the highway past the first set of lights and then hang a right to start out this route that outlines St Margaret's Bay and Chester Basin.
on our way to the south shore we pass through a sort of lakes district. The route passes by several lakes but one you get really close to is Hatchet Lake which will be on your Left.
As we reach Shad Bay we are greeted by the cool sea air. We fallow the coast to one of the more famous places in Nova Scotia.
2) Peggy's Cove is the location of this detour and is one of the most visited tourist locations in Nova Scotia. Peggy's Cove Lighthouse is definitively the most photographed location in this area and is an obvious spot to visit.
Peggy's cove is located at the mouth of st Margrets Bay and the middle part of this routes fallows the coast around the bay. There are a lot of interesting coves along this part of the route so don't be afraid to stop and get a few pictures.
The detour here is really great and on a nice day the sun sparkles on the many white sandy beaches along the coast. As we come up the other side we see Chester Basin, be sure to stop in Blanford and catch a glimpse of Tancook Island and some of the other islands just off the coast.
3) We end up in the town of Chester, formerly a small fishing village it has turned into a tourist hotspot and there is so much to do around this little area. Be sure to check out their web site to see all there is to do here.
